MANORVILLE, N.Y. — The Long Island Game Farm invites children to send get well
cards to its famous giraffe, Gentle
Gerry. The 18 foot giraffe known for his friendly disposition to
Game Farm visitors will not be making
the trip north this year. Earlier
this year, Gerry received an injury to his hoof, requiring that
he recuperate on his Tennessee ranch.
In his place, Gentle Gerry's
cousin,
Jack the Giraffe, is now up from
Florida and has become well acclimated
to his summer quarters. Visitors
to the Park have been amazed by
how adorable Jack is.
The Game Farm
is inviting children
to send get well cards to Gerry
that will be forwarded to him
in Tennessee. Cards can be sent
to The Long Island Game Farm; P.O.
Box 97; Manorville, New York 11949.
The Game Farm will also have oversized
get well cards on hand by Jack's
quarters for visitors to sign.
"We are saddened that Gerry
won't be able to make it
this year. We always look forward
to his arrival and wish him a speedy
recovery. We are glad to have
Jack with us," said Melinda Novak,
Co-owner, Long Island Game Farm.
