Long Island Game Farm's Grand Opening & Earth Day Celebration to be Held on Saturday,
April 19
MANORVILLE, N.Y. —Anticipation builds as Long Island Game Farm's Grand Opening
draws near! Saturday, April 19.
This year's grand opening will
feature an Earth Day Celebration
(The rain date will be Sunday,
April 20). This is Long Island
Game Farm's thirty-ninth season
doing what it does best- giving
families and students the chance
to learn about wildlife and nature
while having fun experiencing it
first hand!
There
will be plenty of activities
for the kids to take part of
during the event. The first 100
kids to enter the park will get
a Wild About Earth Day Educational
Activity Book. There will be "I
Love the Earth" tattoos available
for all. There will also be "Earth
Day Starts with Me!" wrist ribbons,
"Care for the Earth" lollipops
and Earth Day pencils provided.
A "Plant Your Own seeds" table
will also be providing sunflower
seeds with soil and cups; courtesy
of Thegardenspot.com. LIfun4kids.com will also be featured during the
event. What better way to celebrate
Earth Day than learning about the
environment and animals of the
world.
From alligators to zebra and
scores of animals in between,
the Long
Island Game Farm Wildlife and
Children's Zoo has many interactive
areas
where guests can touch and,
unlike most zoos, actually feed
the animals! During the summer
season, entertainment
and educational programs are
featured center stage at the
500 seat amphitheater.
During the months of July and
August, a week-long children’s
camp – Camp
Zoo will return. Registration
for Camp Zoo began on March
1, marking
the beginning of its fifth
year as a unique program that provides
children with a hands-on educational
experience with nature.
"We can't wait to open for our
thirty-ninth season. Every
year gets better and better
as we
educate our guests about
the animal world
and nature. I have the privilege
of watching thousands of
students experience first-hand
what they learn in books from the
classroom.
One of our greatest joys
is when families throughout the
region
or visiting Long Island get
to enjoy the park and spend
quality time together. Bringing
people together- what could be
better? It is sure to be our best
season yet," said Diane Novak,
Co-Owner and President of the Long
Island Game Farm.
One of the best times of
the year to visit the Game
Farm
is early
spring, when many of the
animals have given birth
to newborns.
This year's newborns should
include Barbados Sheep,
rabbits, sheep,
ducks, goats and others.
"Once you walk into the
Game Farm,
take
in the beauty of springtime
as you interact with all
of our
newborns." said Novak.
